After XUV500 and TUV300 in the brigade of Mahindras is the KUV100 (pronounced ‘one double oh’). As per the company, it’s one ‘kool’ and ‘kompact’ car.
Mahindra is marketing this model as a compact SUV but we should review it on the perspective of an Indian manufacturer’s first 100% Made In India product. Very much in the line of our P.M. Modi’s calls for “Make In India”.
KUV’s 3.6 metre length, front-wheel-drive setup and monocoque construction broadly puts it in the same category as hatchbacks such as the Maruti Swift or Hyundai Grand i10.
Mahindra KUV100 comes in following 23 versions with 2 engine and 1 transmission and 2 fuel options.
With the petrol range starting at Rs. 4.42 lakh and the diesel at Rs. 5.22 lakh (both prices ex-showroom) positions the KUV100 against the likes of the Maruti Swift and the Hyundai Grand i10. Aesthetically, the KUV brings something new to the segment. It also has (nearly) more seating space than its rivals, which is never a bad thing.
